On Being A Parent

Two weeks ago, my husband and I attended a two hour seminar in our parish regarding creative parenting. I must say that I’ve learned a lot. But as what our speaker said, there really is no proven, effective way for being a good mother or a good father, however, we should take note of the important factors of parenthood to be able to raise our children well.

Let me share with you some of the things that she has shared with us:

1. Being a parent is being empty. When you become a parent, you start thinking less about yourself already and more about your child. Sometimes you don’t even think about yourself anymore, as long as your child gets the best in life. You learn how to be selfless and how to love unconditionally.

2. Kids nowadays are way different already than the kids before. Kids these days are already way better than us when it comes to multi-tasking. Take my daughter, for example. She can chat with her friends on Facebook while playing Pet Society and watching her favorite cartoon on TV, all at the same time. She even browses channels in between.

Dearest Princess

Dearest Princess,

Mommy would like to tell you how much you mean to her personally, but she guessed your young mind would not be able to understand it yet. So, she decided to just write it and hope that this letter would still be around when you’re old enough to grasp everything.

The moment that she knew that you’d be coming to her life, Mommy got so scared. Mommy was so young and naive back then and it confused Mommy so much. Mommy even came to the point of trying to take your life away from you and Mommy was so sorry about that.She hated herself so much when she realized what she has done. Mommy had already asked for Papa Jesus’ forgiveness and she thanked Him for still making you healthy and normal despite what she have done. Ever since that day, Mommy has already loved you with all her heart and soul.
